In this episode, I break down the biggest fitness and nutrition myths holding women over 40 back from building muscle, boosting metabolism, and feeling strong again. These myths create fear, confusion, and decision fatigue, and they push women away from the exact habits that support metabolic health, hormone balance, and long-term strength.
With over four decades in the fitness and nutrition space, I separate outdated rules from evidence-based strategies that actually work in midlife. You will learn what matters, what does not, and how to stop overthinking exercise, protein, cardio, and recovery.
This episode is for women who feel like they are doing everything right but not seeing results, and want clarity instead of more caution.
What you will learn:
– Why most midlife women are undertraining, not overtraining
– How to approach fasted workouts, protein timing, and Zone 2 cardio without fear
– The truth about lifting heavy, building power, and avoiding injury
– Why protein intake matters more than calorie obsession
– The simple habits that truly drive metabolic health after 40

I’m so glad you made this video! I have a very consistent exercise routine, where I work out fasted and then recently heard you should never do that so I have been trying to figure out how I can get up early enough to take my supplements that need to be taken on an empty stomach plus get some protein in my body before my fitness class, and then get through the workout without feeling nauseated from having just eaten. Also, I am usually not very hungry before my session but happy to eat after. It’s good to hear that listening to my body is not doing it “wrong.”
Thank you for talking about “Lifting Heavy” as it’s such a vague and confusing area. You’re right about this (and the other myths also) creating paralysis from too much conflicting information. This was a great video with helpful input on the five topics.
At 53 I couldn’t agree more with all you just shared! Thank you for all of these wonderful health reminders. And you look fabulous, btw
Luv these tips! Oh wow, this one just poked a memory I thought I’d healed from because I’m not proud of this, but I once followed so many “health rules” that my daily routine looked like a part‑time job with no benefits. Gosh, I remember chugging lemon water at 6AM because some influencer said it would “reset my organs,” and my stomach responded like, “Luise, please, we are not a dishwasher.” And funny thing is, half these rules sound empowering until you realize they’re just stress wearing yoga pants. The real plot twist? Once I stopped forcing myself to eat like a woodland fairy, work out like a Navy SEAL, and sleep like a Victorian child with no responsibilities, my body actually calmed down. Women don’t need more rules—we need more trust in our own signals, more gentleness, and fewer trends telling us our biology is a group project.
