In this video, I’m busting one of the biggest myths about sleep and aging: you don’t need less sleep as you get older – you actually need it more. Here’s why prioritizing quality sleep is essential if you want to age powerfully and stay strong, lean, and energized.

Why You Can’t “Steal” From Sleep:
🔹 Recovery and Repair – Sleep is when your body repairs, rebuilds, and restores. If you’re pushing yourself in the gym and in life, this is when the magic happens.
🔹 Metabolic Health – Poor sleep is linked to higher risks of obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction. You can’t out-supplement or out-exercise bad sleep.
🔹 Brain Health – Sleep is when your brain clears waste, consolidates memories, and recharges. Chronic sleep deprivation can increase your risk of cognitive decline.
🔹 Longevity – Consistently skimping on sleep has been linked to a higher risk of all-cause mortality. So, yes, if you plan to sleep when you’re dead, that might come sooner than you think.

Forget the Myths:
❌ “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” – This mindset can shave years off your life.
❌ “I can catch up on the weekend” – You can’t truly “catch up” on missed sleep.
❌ “I only need six hours” – Only a tiny fraction of the population are true short sleepers. For the rest of us, it’s 7-9 hours or nothing.

Practical Tips for Better Sleep:
✔️ Set Aside 8-9 Hours – Give yourself enough time to wind down and actually fall asleep.
✔️ Create a Sleep-Only Space – Your bed should be for sleep (and sex), not for TV or work.
✔️ Wind Down with a Good (Not Great) Book – Don’t overstimulate your brain right before bed.
✔️ Wake Up Rested – Aim to wake up without an alarm, feeling refreshed and ready.

Remember, nutrition and movement are critical, but sleep is the third pillar of aging powerfully. Make it a priority.
