We all know that processed snacks are loaded with sugar, unhealthy fats, and empty calories. But what if we told you that there are plenty of healthy snack options out there that are not only delicious but good for you too? Here are some of our favorite healthy snacks that will help keep you on track:
1. Vegetables and Dip
Cut up some veggies like carrots, celery, cucumbers, and peppers and pair them with a healthy dip like hummus or guacamole.
2. Fruit
A piece of fruit is the perfect snack when you’re looking for something sweet. And there are so many to choose from! Our favorites include apples, bananas, grapes, and strawberries.
3. Whole Grain Crackers
Choose a whole grain cracker like Ryvita or Wasa for a nutritious and filling snack. Top with some cheese or peanut butter for an extra boost of protein.
4. Nuts and Seeds
A handful of nuts or seeds is a great way to satisfy your hunger in between meals. Almonds, pistachios, and sunflower seeds are all great options.
5. Yogurt
Plain yogurt is packed with nutrients like calcium and protein. Add some fruit or granola for a little sweetness and crunch.
6. Dark Chocolate
Believe it or not, dark chocolate is actually good for you! Look for a bar that has at least 70% cacao for the most health benefits.
7. Popcorn
Air-popped popcorn is a healthier alternative to traditional movie theater popcorn. Just be sure to avoid the buttery topping!
8. Trail mix
A homemade trail mix is a great way to get your fix of both sweet and savory. Simply mix together your favorite nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and chocolate chips.
9. Smoothie
A fruit and veggie-packed smoothie make for a satisfying snack that’s full of vitamins and minerals. Add some yogurt or almond milk for an extra boost of protein.
10. Rice Cake
Top a brown rice cake with peanut butter or almond butter for a quick and easy snack that’s high in fiber and low in sugar.
These are just a few of our favorite healthy snack ideas. What are some of yours?
