Real Cause of Excess Belly Fat
In today's video we are looking at how to lose fat in your 40's! More and more clients are coming to me and telling me their stories of how they were once lean, but can no longer seem to lose body fat. I feel ya! It should be more difficult and one of the main culprits is our decrease in the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Pre-menopause and menopause cause a decline in our body's ability to make those hormones. When estrogen goes down, it affects our carbs, our insulin and cortisol levels. Essentially, your body can now tolerate LESS carbs than before (and yes, this includes our beloved fruit!).
That being said, we still require carbs for energy and satiety, but we need to be more careful about our timing, type and amount if we don't want to gain excess body fat.

Working out at a high intensity also helps burn body fat! Today's tabata workout will do just that!

Workout:
#1 – Squat jacks/ice skater hop/scissors/squats
#2 – Inchworm to pushup to plank jack to 2 jump squats
#3 – Renegade row to partial burpee
#4 – Plie to Tricep Press/Plie squat jumps
#5 – Weighted squat, bicep curl to overjead press/weighted squat jumps
#6 – Spiderman crunch/Bicycles

  3. Thanks for the tips. I am 42 and have lost 92 lbs but the last 30 has been such a battle of gaining 10-15 and losing the same pounds over and over.

  4. I not eat anything white. I started doing this because of Arthritis. Sugar, flour, pasta, potatoes and rice spikes insulin which causes inflammation. These foods do not have much nutritional value anyway. Not fun but by eliminating , I lost weight.
