Before I had my hysterectomy 5 years ago, my doctor gave me a tips sheet and one of the items on it was to exercise because it helps with recovery. I was regularly exercising for about a year prior. My recovery was a breeze. I do agree to start an exercise program now because you never know what may happen.
But I do think you should take it easy during recovery. I had days when I felt I could do anything, and did more than I should have, only to be extremely tired the next day to where I didn’t want to get out of bed because I pushed myself. Take the time to rest, do what you can but don’t push yourself too hard. Ease yourself back into your routine once you’re out of recovery. Tfs
I was having a recurring issue and my doctor brought up a hysterectomy. I said get the calendar out and let’s do it! I didn’t think twice. I was 30 years old, wasn’t planning on having any more kids. I’m 60 years old and that was the best decision I ever made.
Oh my gosh this video came at the perfect time for me- I am having a spinal surgery tomorrow- a laminectomy, and I have been doing the same things- lifting as heavy as possible, eating lots of protein. I will push for physical therapy as soon as they will let me. I never thought to use the blood flow restriction bands but will use them as I recover. Thank you JJ!
Thank you! I’m glad my story helped you 🙂
Mental preparation, get as physically strong as possible prior to surgery, HIIT, super duper consistent with nutrition, actively use DIM, take saunas. After surgery, get up and move, eating smaller meals, get amino acids (twice a day), aid healing and up protein (1.5). Added red light therapy, sauna, could not cold plunge, can’t lift over 10 pounds, no straining. Used TRX for movement. Walk, stationery bike, elliptical. Body weight movement, cardio movement.
I had mine as well, super painful while at the hospital due to inactivity and gas buildup. I refused opioids, and only took Tylenol 1000 mg. When I went home from hospital, the next day I went to the supermarket, used the shopping cart as support and walked for two hours . I did wear a binder since I left the hospital. I walked at home and reduce the Tylenol due to horrible night sweats. I never experienced waking up drenched in sweat, I realized it was the pain medicine. I lost too much weight, and got afraid, so I started eating pancakes in the AM. Three weeks after, I am back at the gym, doing only arm and back exercises, swimming and thanks for this channel. I want to get as fit as you!
