Have you ever felt bloated and tired after eating? You might have a food intolerance. High food intolerance is when your body has an extreme response to a certain type of food. If you're curious about what foods might trigger these negative reactions, read on! We'll discuss the most common high-food intolerances and their symptoms. Plus, we'll give you some tips for living with high food intolerance.
Let's start with the most common high-food intolerance: gluten. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and other grains. So if you've got an intolerance to gluten, what should you do? Don't go eat dirt – there are lots of yummy foods without it!
Bread is off the menu, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy other carbs like pasta or rice. Packed with vitamins and minerals, clean carbs will keep you healthy while giving your diet variety. Plus, they're delicious! Just take caution when buying processed foods like crackers and candies. When checking labels for ingredients, try to stick to products that have 3 or fewer grams of sugars per serving.
You might also be wondering about dairy. As many as 65% of people may have lactose intolerance. Luckily for those individuals, there are plenty of other dairy-free options out there too! For instance, dark chocolate can satisfy that sweet tooth, and it even has some health benefits. So go ahead and indulge – but don't overdo it! Dark chocolate is high in sugar, so keep your portions to a minimum.
While we're on the topic of eating well, let's talk veggies. Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower contain a compound called goitrogens. It can slow down your thyroid if eaten in excess. So if you've got an autoimmune disease or thyroid problem, take care with these foods. You might want to favor leafy greens instead.
