If you want to be healthier, lose weight, and feel better every day, there are some simple things you can do in the morning.

  1. One of these is drinking a glass of water before eating anything. This will hydrate your body and fill up your stomach so that it’s less likely to overeat or crave unhealthy foods later on.
  2. Another way to get started on the right foot is by exercising for 15 minutes first thing in the morning. Exercise helps regulate blood sugar levels and releases endorphins, which make us feel good all day long. It also gives our muscles what they need to function properly throughout the day without getting sore or stiff from sitting at desks all day long!  It doesn't matter if you choose running, walking, dancing, weight training, or even yoga. Just do it and get your blood pumping!
  3. A third thing that we can do is to give our body a boost of energy with a superfood smoothie packed full of nutrients and vitamins. The evening before, make sure you keep this in the fridge so it’s ready to go when you get up.
  4. Another important aspect of having a healthy day is making sure we have sufficient fiber intake throughout the day through fresh fruit and veggies. If we lack fiber, we will feel stuffy and bloated which leads to poor digestion. For this reason, try starting your morning with 30g raw organic oatmeal mixed with water or almond milk for some natural sweetness. Keep in mind that if you are trying to lose weight, oatmeal is a complex carbohydrate that will help you feel fuller for longer.
  5. In the morning, aim to drink at least 2 liters of water. This will keep your energy levels high and your body hydrated throughout the day.
  6. If possible, try not to drink anything else with calories such as coffee or juice in the morning because they can dehydrate you which doesn’t make for a good start to any day!
  7. To save time in the morning it's a good idea to plan ahead if possible by buying healthy foods and preparing them in advance so all you have to do is grab something nutritious whenever you're about to leave the house. For example, place washed veggie sticks in a container with some hummus for dipping. That way you can avoid purchasing unhealthy snacks on the go.
  8. If you usually skip breakfast, the best way to get it into your morning routine is by preparing extra food in advance so it’s ready for when you get around to eating. For example, if you tend to always run out of time to make eggs in the morning, place some bread crumbs or chopped vegetables in a bowl and crack an egg over them. Place this mixture into the oven on medium heat until cooked. This will give you nice crispy toast with a healthy twist!
  9. Aim for 2 liters of water per day; start with 1 liter first thing in the morning.
  10. Try not to drink anything else other than water first thing in the morning; coffee and juice can be dehydrating which isn't good for your body.

Sticking to these simple ways to start off the day will definitely help us feel better and reduce our risk of illnesses that can develop due to poor lifestyle habits.  In addition, it will give us more energy to perform the activities we love.
