Insomnia and emotional/stress eating can be a factor in weight gain. During perimenopause the dip in estrogen can cause us to gain belly fat and retain water. After the age of 30 we lose muscle mass and bone density. All of which can contribute to weight gain. So, how do we combat this? Getting good, quality sleep, decreasing stress and EXERCISE. (which will help with getting a good nights sleep and reducing stress! It is all interconnected!!)

For most women, perimenopause is a time of great change. The symptoms associated with perimenopause can be difficult to deal with, and many women are unsure if they are even in perimenopause. In this article, we will discuss the signs and symptoms of perimenopause so that you can better understand whether or not you are experiencing them. Keep reading to learn more!
What is perimenopause?
Perimenopause is the transition period leading up to menopause. It typically begins in a woman’s 40s, though it can sometimes start in her 30s or even earlier. During perimenopause, the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen, causing changes in the menstrual cycle and eventually leading to menopause (when menstruation stops entirely).
What are the symptoms of perimenopause?
There are a variety of symptoms associated with perimenopause, including:
– irregular periods
– heavier or lighter periods than usual
– longer or shorter periods than usual
– missed periods
– spotting between periods
– hot flashes
– night sweats
– difficulty sleeping
– mood swings
– irritability
– fatigue
– decreased sex drive
– vaginal dryness or burning
How do I know if I’m in perimenopause?
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, it is possible that you are in perimenopause. However, the only way to definitively diagnose perimenopause is through a blood test measuring hormone levels. Your doctor can also check for menopause by looking at your medical history and conducting a physical examination.
What can I do about the symptoms of perimenopause?
There are several things you can do to manage the symptoms of perimenopause, including:
– Taking over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen to help with cramps, headaches, and other menstrual symptoms.
– Wearing loose clothing and avoiding hot foods and beverages to help reduce hot flashes and night sweats.
– Sleeping in a cool room and using a fan or air conditioner to help with difficulty sleeping.
– Exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet to help with fatigue and mood swings.
– Talking to your doctor about hormone replacement therapy or other medications that can help with vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, and other perimenopausal symptoms.
When should I see my doctor about perimenopause?
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms and think you may be in perimenopause, it is a good idea to talk to your doctor. They can help diagnose perimenopause and recommend treatment options. It is also important to see your doctor if you have any concerns about your health or well-being during this time.

You are amazing. I lost 120lbs and then when me and my twin sister turned 41 our Mother died, then at 42 it started! Blasted weight gain, weird periods, weird mood swings. Our mother was very private so we have no clue when she actually went into full menopause. But wow. I hate that I gained about 15lbs. I do not feel sexy or pretty, which is a lie from the devil. But it is just weird. What are good things to eat and what should I stop eating? What are good times of the day to eat and stop. I am sorry for all the questions. So new to this and it is a subject no one wants to talk about. But I do, because I feel crazy, weird and out of balance. Thanks for whatever you can tell me and thanks for reading my wild post. God bless you!
