A hysterectomy is a surgery to remove a woman's uterus. This can be a life-saving surgery for some women, but it can also have significant side effects, including weight gain. If you've had a hysterectomy and are struggling with your weight, don't worry – there are safe and effective ways to lose weight after a hysterectomy. In this article, we'll outline some of the best tips for losing weight safely and effectively after a hysterectomy. So read on to find out how you can get back on track with your diet and fitness goals!
1. Talk to your doctor about your weight loss goals.
Before you start any weight loss plan, it's important to talk to your doctor about your goals. Your doctor can help you create a safe and effective weight loss plan that's tailored to your specific needs. They can also offer guidance on which exercises and activities are safe for you to do after your surgery.
2. Start slowly with diet and exercise.
Don't try to do too much too soon after your surgery. It's important to ease into things gradually, both with diet and exercise. Try starting with moderate-intensity exercises like walking or swimming, and slowly increase the intensity as you feel more comfortable. When it comes to diet, focus on eating healthy, whole foods rather than processed, sugary foods.
3. Drink plenty of water.
Water is essential for weight loss, and it's especially important after a surgery like a hysterectomy. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and help your body flush out toxins.
4. Avoid crash diets and fad diets.
Crash diets and fad diets are not only ineffective, they can also be dangerous. These types of diets can lead to nutrient deficiencies and other health problems. If you're looking to lose weight, focus on making sustainable changes to your diet rather than following a fad diet plan.
5. Get support from family and friends.
Losing weight after a hysterectomy can be difficult, both physically and emotionally. Having the support of family and friends can make all the difference. Ask your loved ones to help you with meal prep or to go on walks with you. Knowing that you have people in your corner will help you stay motivated and focused on your weight loss goals.
6. Seek professional help if needed.
If you're struggling to lose weight on your own, don't be afraid to seek professional help. There are many qualified professionals who can help you create a safe and effective weight loss plan. If you feel like you need extra support, consider meeting with a registered dietitian or a certified personal trainer.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for this. I had a partial hysterectomy a few years back and had never gained weight like I have after surgery. I’ve been eating clean and have a fasting lifestyle of every other day. The struggle is real! God Bless You and thank you again! 🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🏻🤗🙏🏽🙏🏼
You’re very welcome and thank you! 🙂
I guess my body is double trouble. I had a hysterectomy, ovaries intact though, 6 months ago and then 5 years ago I had a total thyroidectomy. So, I have lost 2 major hormone driven organs. I’ve gained at least 15-20lbs now and it’s driving me crazy. What can I do now, to lose weight? I’m at a loss and there’s no info on my kind issue.
Sorry to hear about all the struggles you’ve faced and are facing. The whole goal is still to give your body lots of nutrients and good quality ones, both from food and supplements. I have many more free resources on all these on my website, so you can start there. It’s also a good idea to work a naturopathic or functional medicine doctor who can help you figure out how to get more hormonal support from herbs. They can help you figure out exactly which combination of herbs are best. But the first step is still to have that “impeccable diet” that I mentioned in the video.
Here bc I’ve been gaining weight so fast after my full hysterectomy, kept my ovaries. Now I’m having high blood pressure and has triggered my depression.
Same here
There are a lot more resources on my blog than there are here on YouTube that cover weight loss, what to eat and self care which will help with the other symptoms. You can start here: https://livewellzone.com/weight-gain-caused-by-hormones/

Thank you for going in depth. I’m two weeks post op and the thought of gaining weight after I worked so hard losing 50lbs prior to surgery has me really sad.
There are definitely ways to prevent that. I hope the tips in the video help.
Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome 🙂
I have tried everything I starve my self that only backfire I work out with no results I mean nothing is working
It sounds very similar to the story I shared in the video. Hopefully some of the tips I shared will help you turn things around.
Live Well Zone yes hopefully I’m starting some soon .. silly question any reason I might be craving meat or is this my imagination?
@Nicole Sutherland cravings of any kind usually come from some sort of deficiency or imbalance. Hard to say what that would be specifically without us actually doing a consultation. Always so many factors at play.
I have gained around 70 pounds in the last 3 years after having a total hysterectomy. I live a fairly healthy lifestyle with diet and exercise; however, I would say I don’t eat enough to support weight loss but I’m just not hungry that much. Coffee in the morning and one meal a day is usually good for me. I saw this video at the beginning of July and I purchased the tangy tangerine and the other 3 herbs and started all of them as soon as they came. I have lost about 15 ponds since then. I sat in a doctor’s office today and listened to her for an hour and a half tell me that I have to be eating excessive calories and there is no way that these products could help me lose the weight. She was a new doctor to me, so she probably didn’t believe that I lost 15 pounds anyway. She was degrading and so judgmental. She didn’t believe a word I said, including that I was diagnosed with hypersomnia and that my inability to get REM sleep is contributing to my weight gain. She said when she doesn’t sleep she loses weight. Ugh! Anyway, I wanted to say that you are the first person who has given me any hope in the last 3 years. Every doctor judges me and thinks I’m lying. I did not change one single thing about my routine other than take these supplements you recommended. Thank you so much for being so informative!
So glad to hear the recommendations are helping you! Sometimes you just have to find your own path and stay on it. Sadly not everyone will understand or support us when we choose to do what’s best for our wellbeing!
I know what you mean about Dr. I need 2nd opinions too. They seem to just how you basics, & move on to the next patient. I need facts. This is the only body we have. Glad you seemed further. This is very helpful to me too.
HI, Thank you for this video. I am due to have a Hysterectomy in the next 30 days or so (waiting on the final scheduled date). What can I do do prepare for it? Would you suggest I start on the herbs and supplement before hand? Diet changes to avoid or reduce inflammation? I worked very hard and lost a lot of weight 5 years ago and have been able to keep it off but I certainly do not want to gain it back after this procedure. Eating habits are already very good. All organic is challenging due to the size of my family but, slowly changing into it as much as possible. Thank you for any suggestions.
If you decide to try the vitamins or herbs it’s a good idea to double check with your doctor just to make sure there won’t be any conflicts. Just in case your doctor has you on any other meds, or has plans to put you on any meds.
Hi I have just spent the entire night listening to all your videos and researching on the links you provided. I’m of the opinion that since I came looking because it’s now two years post hysterectomy and I have gained almost 100 pounds.. I have nothing else to loose. I have tried everything that my doctors have recommended.. I have starved myself..I have just drank water.. and have never lost more than eight pounds. I’m frustrated and don’t want to look in a mirror nor put on clothes. I am 45 years old and hate how I look. Is there a blend that combines the Red clover Ashwagandha and chase berries and how should I take them? I’m switching to the Rasa coffee blend as well. However I also need to ask if these would work well with blood thinners because my doctors said I can’t take hormone therapy because of it. I can provide my email address if need be to have a clearer understanding. I almost forgot to mention that I was so happy I found this video because there is almost little to no information about this out there. I thought I was doomed.
Herbs and drugs don’t always play well together, so I suggest double checking with your doctors before attempting to combine. Things can go quite wrong if you use the wrong ones together. As for the herbs, there might be a brand out there that combines all three. However, to my knowledge, the brand that I recommend doesn’t have all three in one blend. They have a blend called Women’s Balance that combines red clover and chaste tree (along with some other herbs that are helpful for hormone balance). You can use the link I provided to look at their full product listing. I’m glad this video has given you some new insight.
Thank you for this video! This is the most information of “value” that I have ever found after having a full hysterectomy. I will definitely start all of these suggestions. I have gained 70 lbs in 8 years and eat pretty clean, as well as swim laps regularly. There is no logical reason that I have gained this weight and continue to gain more fat-especially belly. So discouraging! I’ll be watching more videos 🙂
Glad it was helpful and good luck as you start making these tweaks!
Hi Ladies. I just had a C-section hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. My Uterus, & Fallopian tube removed, but still have my ovaries. So far, I am not gaining any weight. However, I want to stay healthy, eat the right foods, & to know what I should avoid, the signs I should expect, etc… This is all new for me. I have always worked out, but now at 51, I know my body is changing. I needed this information to adjust to changes/ reform of my body. You have been very helpful. I also want to know what beginners exercise or videos you can recommend? The supplements you mentioned, I will research to try. I am currently talking a multivitamin but I want to make sure I am taking what my body actually needs, & not just a multivitamin to say I am taking one. The blood flow is the issue I have experienced in my left thigh, & arm. It seems to be getting better, but I do feel the difference. Especially at night sleeping, when all organs are still & I awake in the morning. I have a numbness feeling in my arm & hands if I awake with it upward, & can feel the blood flow rushing back down. Also in my legs at times. Is that a worry? What else can I do. I have had test, seen neurologist. No blood clots signs. Excersise was suggested. But I would like your opinion…? Look forward hearing from you.
There are so many factors involved in numbness. Seeing a doctor is best. Since you’ve already seen a neurologist, you can always get a second opinion from another doctor if you wish. And of course you can try all the recommendations (like exercise) to see how your body responds.
@Live Well Zone Thanks so much. Will start off with little exercises. & Continue my Dr follow ups.
Very informative. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
