Real Cause of Excess Belly Fat
Why does cholesterol often go up during perimenopause and menopause?

Here’s the truth: cholesterol is the raw material your body uses to make hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. When the ovaries slow down, the body looks for backup ways to keep producing what it needs. That’s why cholesterol rises, it’s a compensatory mechanism, not a mistake.

At the same time, fat tissue can start acting like a hormone factory of its own, producing estrogen (and unfortunately, inflammation too). This is what I call the “shifting sands” of midlife body composition, where fat distribution changes, even if the scale doesn’t move.

When you understand how the body works at the cellular level, these changes make sense and you can take the right steps to support healthy hormones and metabolism.
