Not only does losing weight while going through menopause bring physical benefits, but it can also boost your self-esteem by making you feel better about yourself. Menopause is a natural process that occurs in women around the age of forty-five and brings changes to their menstrual cycle. By managing stress levels and eating right, you'll be on your way to dropping those extra pounds in no time! Keep reading for some helpful tips.

1. Eat more frequently but consume smaller portions.

2. Find some exercise you enjoy enough to keep doing it regularly, even though your body will not be as forgiving as it used to. Try swimming or running if you are having trouble choosing an activity that you can stick with long term.

3. Drink plenty of water every day, and stay away from sugary drinks like soda, energy drinks, sweet tea, etc., if you want to lose weight quickly without negatively affecting your health.

4. Keep yourself busy at all times! Staying active is an excellent way to help maintain a healthy weight through menopause since being idle can lead to binge eating and depression… both of which are detrimental to everyone's well-being!

5. Give yourself a pep talk. Remind yourself that you deserve to be healthy, happy, and enjoy life to the fullest.

6. Avoid unnecessary stress by spending quality time with your loved ones, making new friends, or becoming involved in your community.

7. Create a slimmer version of yourself as an inspiration for weight loss motivation rather than trying to emulate the latest fashion magazine cover girl who could be unhealthy and under-eating for all you know.

8. Don't give up! Losing weight is not always easy but persistence will make the journey to better health much easier! Remember that maintaining a healthy lifestyle takes patience and commitment, but it's worth it in the end.

9. Remember that you can eat whatever you want in moderation. There is no such thing as food that is off-limits!

10. Drink more water and green tea, rather than sweetened beverages like soda or fruit juices, whenever possible if you are trying to lose weight quickly (but make sure to check with your doctor first). Natural foods and drinks like fruits and vegetables will also help keep the pounds at bay while boosting your overall health! Becoming menopausal doesn't mean that it's time to start developing poor eating habits; instead, it means making healthy changes in preparation for the next chapter of your life.

Losing weight is a difficult task for many people. During menopause, it can be even more challenging to maintain a healthy weight because of the changes in hormone levels that come with aging and certain medications prescribed by your doctor. In this post, we’ve provided some helpful tips on how you can manage your weight during menopause so that you don't gain too much or lose too little when transitioning from perimenopausal to menopausal life.

  1. Thank you, I noticed last year after my hysterectomy that the more I work out I couldn’t lose weight I was just gaining. Two months ago I changed my eating habits to low carb no sugar. I have been on it 3 months have lost over. 20lb I still work out, but not as much as I use to. 💕

    • That’s awesome, congratulations! Yes eliminating starchy carbs and sugar is what did it for me too.

    • Did u eat any salad dressings??

  2. I’ve lost over 15 pounds on Keto, similar to whole 30, but under 20 carbs a day. I was addicted to sugar so so so bad and now I am free of not just sugar but food cravings. The healthy fat and protein plus lots of greens has changed my life. Thanks for sharing Annie so inspiring and you are as cute as can be!

    • Primal Kitchen has great salad dressings made with healthy fat (avo oil and no sugar or chemicals)

    • That’s wonderful Debi! Thank you so much for sharing. Sugar is a real addiction. Awe thank you 💖💖💖

    • Wow! Under 20 grams a day is tough. I try to keep it under 40. Keto/low carb has really helped me especially with the belly bloat and the “spare tire”. Lol. And I feel great to boot!

    • Jeannie 5766  I am also on Keto and I love it. <3 I do eat grains though because I grew up on them more than noodles or potatoes. Did you know that buckwheat has B15 and B17 in it which kills cancer cells? I love pearl barley as well instead of pasta with my gulash and gravy. Grains have nutrients and are very good for your tummy.

  3. Thanks for sharing! I just hit my 55 lbs. down this morning eating very low carb, not quite keto. I’ve been addicted to sugar since 5th grade…I can remember thinking even back then WTH?! 😂🙄. You’re so right the cravings definitely leave once you get used to eating healthy.

    • Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations! I bet you feel amazing! Sugar is so toxic. I’m so glad you were able to kick the sugar addiction.

    • You’re welcome Mary. It was a huge change for me but it’s been 5 years and I’m still going strong and keeping my weight off.

  9. OMG I’m 52…was recently going through swollen fingers when waking – couldn’t even bend my fingers – tingling and numbing in my feet and hands – bloated…gassy…heartburn galore… it was terrible. I started minimizing sugar, and taking Ashwagandha and Turmeric. It’s helped me so much.

    • Omg, Thank you Rita, S! I m doing all that too!

    • 54 and very addicted to sugar.

    • sharon conner 55 and also very addicted.

    • I have had swollen fingers and achy joints in my hands as well when I wake up, not fun, as well as tingling in my feet and i notice it more after I eat. I wonder what causes this in women our age, just the hormonal changes? I miss the way I used to feel.

  10. I need to get back into FASTerWay it’s low carbs & eliminate sugar…
    I have cut pop drastically…but, I like my carbs & sugar & dairy…
Dairy is causing me to have inflammation & pain…when I was following the plan better I had less pain & lost weight & inches!’

    • Yep I can’t eat sweet treats. I can’t stop myself. And breads and pasta/ rice I don’t eat often.

  11. Its hard to find someone who isn’t selling a product or someone under the age of 30 who tells their weight loss journey who I cannot reach through and strangle. Thanks for your story!

  12. Thanks for sharing and keeping it real. I feel the same way about diet and exercise. You look great💕

  13. I can’t imagine a life without sugar which is an addict. How do you stick to it? Has your addiction gone now?

    • I can’t imagine a life without sugar which is an addict. How do you stick to it? Has your addiction gone now?

    • Eating high fat low carb foods is delicious!! Cream in coffee, pizza crust made from ground chicken and cheese covered broccoli. Plus, a bit of dark chocolate. That just the tip of the iceberg…

  14. i love you, and this segment and all your shares.

    • Thank you so much Judith 💓💓

  15. I enjoyed this. This was real. She expressed her weaknesses and was honest about what she does. Not selling a product or making unrealistic promises. We have to commit. Either we want to loose the weight or you don’t, and if you do you just have to give up certain foods. Pay attention to the amount of carbs you are consuming daily particularly if you are not exercising enough to burn them off. Otherwise they convert to sugar. Eat more proteins and low carb foods.

    • Yep that’s it exactly. I struggled for years and tried so many diets. For me this was a lifestyle change. I don’t miss any of the treats I used to eat because I no longer consume them so I don’t crave them. Never going back to eating that stuff again. 💖

  16. they have items that do not have sugar now. tessemaes is a good brand

  17. I really need to give up sugar. I keep trying but eh

    • Yeah it’s a hard habit to kick. But I feel so much better since eliminating it from my diet.

  18. Thank you for your vids, I’m enjoying them! Turning 46 has been hard for me, weight gain, menopause etc🤦🏼‍♀️!!

    • You’re welcome💖💖When I turned 40 everything changed. My skin was awful, I kept gaining weight. Then when I stopped eating sugar treats my skin got better, and I not only lost weight but have kept it off. I turn 54 in August.

  19. you re already thin and look like a young girl, no disrespect…..I cut back sugar years ago and it doesn t make any difference…

    • That’s because of how I eat 😊

    • Jup I eat also healthy and almost no sugar….does not make any difference. You have probably great genetics

    • @anja I don’t know. Both of my parents are overweight. I would check with a doctor. There could be something else going on.

  20. Oh my god I’m addicted and haven’t been able to quit! The withdrawal symptoms get me really bad. However, your video inspired me. TODAY I’m giving away all my sweet things all over my kitchen- cold turkey.
